It’s the headquarters of Colombo Municipal Council and office of the Major of Colombo. It was built during the time of British. A Scottish town planner had recommended Council should construct a large central and dignified municipal building to house the council. This lead to the huge architectural building of Town Hall. The foundation stone for the town hall was laid on 24th of May 1924. Following the successful construction of the building it was formally opened four years later on 9th of August 1928. The building is 108 meters in length and 51.3 meters in width and the total height of the building equals its width of 51.3 m. When you visit Sri Lanka one of the place you should visit is town Hall.
